Sermon Series: Things You Don't Expect
Includes the story of the Scripture that God led both Todd and Lisa Beamer to think about on 9/11 before Todd said, "Let's roll!", and led the charge to scuttle the terrorists' mission 22 years ago on Flight 93. Amazingly, and unbeknownst to each other, the passage from the Bible that Lisa was studying for her Bible Study that day was the same passage that Todd was memorizing as he drove to the airport. How's that for lucky? (Or divinely arranged?)
Romans 11.33-36:
33 Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable His judgments, and His paths beyond tracing out!
34 “Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been His counselor?”
35 “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?”
36 For from Him and through Him and for Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever! Amen.
Which means, as we will see in the life of Joseph, lots of times life will not go at all like you expect it to, but even when it looks like things are completely off the tracks, God's still in control. He's got a way of turning really bad into "wow, I can't believe that turned out for good!", if we'll hang onto Him. So, if you're in the middle of "wow, this is hard!", hang in there. He's the One you wanna be with in the end.
