WORLD WEATHER HIGHLIGHTS FOR SEPTEMBER 24, 2023
- Concern remains over dryness in Australia, Ukraine, western Argentina and southern Russia from a winter crop planting perspective
- Portions of east-central and far southern China will remain too wet
- Center west Brazil rainfall does not look very great over the next two weeks, despite some increase in showers next week
- Center south Brazil weather will trend wetter next week
- U.S. harvest and crop maturation weather looks favorable, despite some infrequent rain and that which occurred in the northern Plains and western Corn Belt during the weekend
- Canada’s Prairies may trend briefly wetter next week before temperatures turn colder with frost and freezes finally occurring in the first week of October
- West Africa will stay wet
- Southern Indonesia will remain dry
- Mainland areas of Southeast Asia reported poor rainfall during the weekend
- Tropical depression is expected to bring rain to central Vietnam this week
- Tropical Storm Ophelia produced heavy rain in North Carolina, Virginia and the Delmarva Peninsula causing some flooding, but not much damaging wind occurred except along the immediate coast
