November 2, 2022: Michigan State won the exhibition game over division 2 Grand Valley State University at the Breslin Center 73-56. It was a game where the Spartans trailed at half time 31-36 after a less than impressive defensive and rebounding performance.
The second half was a vast improvement as MSU held GVSU to 27% shooting. Most important, however, was that MSU looks to be in decent shape at the 5 with the play of a massively improved Mady Sissoko and intriguing play from Kohler and Cooper. Also of note was AJ Hoggard going 2-2 from 3 and combined with Walker for 10 steals in the game. The team looks like it will be a beast defensively at the guard position especially since we still haven't seen what they will be like with Akins, arguably the best athlete.
