Paul is taken before the Jewish council for the purposes of the Roman commander to hear their charges against Paul. Paul causes a dissension in the council which erupts to such an extent, the commander has to rescue Paul again. Over 40 men conspire to kill Paul, taking an oath, which comes to the attention of Paul’s unnamed nephew. The commander, Claudius Lysias, sends Paul safely to Caesarea Maritima under the custody of the governor, Antonius Felix.
