ABOUT THE GUEST
Cathy is the founder of CoolYourSweats, a company on a mission to help 'hot and sweaty women' get their sleep back. She founded the company after her own experience with night sweats and trying to find the right sleepwear to help her sleep without waking up soggy and sleep-deprived. As her night sweats continued, she was becoming increasingly concerned about her overall health and well-being due to the constant lack of sleep. She wondered how something so small and insignificant could cause her so much exhaustion and discomfort. When her night sweats didn't go away, she finally realized she had to do something about them. She swapped out her old polyester nightgown for a cotton one, thinking that that would make the difference. Unfortunately, there was no change in her sleep comfort whatsoever. While she searched for specialty sleepwear for night sweats, she was dismayed by the lack of choice. To her, it was another example of how underserved the menopause market was. But, it also presented her with an opportunity to help women like herself get their sleep back. She brought a unique perspective to the sleepwear world. Cathy has been writing about green and natural building materials since 2009 and through her work she'd discovered how effective natural building materials are for moderating heat and moisture within interior spaces. She figured if natural materials could do it for interior spaces, they could do it for work for humans too. That idea helped her to look at many different materials and after a lot of testing, she chose a unique blend of hemp and organic cotton to make her sleepwear. Along her sleepwear journey, Cathy discovered that there is not enough information available to help women who suffer from hot flashes and night sweats choose the best fabrics to keep them comfortable. She now advises people and media organizations on how to dress women with hot flashes.
