Welcome to 'Don't You Want Me?' - a podcast series taking a lighthearted look at the most relatable, intriguing and dysfunctional relationships in film.
In this episode, we’re tying up our white ties and brushing off our tails with 1935’s screwball comedy TOP HAT, directed by Mark Sandrich. With a screenplay written by Allan Scott and Dwight Taylor and with music by Irving Berlin, this film was one of nine movies that Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire made together, and perhaps the best known. What is it about their partnership that makes them such a glittering example of a symbiotic silver screen pairing? It really doesn’t matter if the skies are grey, as long as we can watch Fred and Ginger, it’s a lovely day.
