On this episode of the Wild & Uncut, we sit down with Renee Thornton.
There are so many amazing women who are doing great things and having a lasting impact on the future of outdoorswomen, and Renee Thornton is one of them! Renee is such a wonderful and passionate individual, who is such an important facet of the hunting community. She defines what it means to be a true conservationist...and lover of wild sheep!
Renee is a self taught hunter from Alberta, who has spearheaded Wild Sheep Foundation's Women Hunt Program. For a variety of reasons women are the fastest-growing segment of the hunting, shooting and conservation communities. Wild Sheep Foundation's Women Hunt® program helps more women cross barriers into the hunting and conservation space.
The WSF Women Hunt® Program offers an opportunity for new female hunters to experience their first hunt in a safe, comfortable, and immersive educational environment at the FTW Ranch in the Hill Country of Texas. The ranch delivers a New Hunter Course and we partnered with them to tailor it for a class of women, incorporating conservation education with the world-class shooting and hunting instruction delivered by former US Special Forces operators and experienced hunters.
With instruction from field to fork, the participants will learn how to field dress, care, and butcher their game and prepare it under the expert instruction of a master chef. Considerable emphasis will be placed on hunter ethics, etiquette, and a comprehensive introduction and discussion of the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation.
The women will be matched with a Wild Sheep Foundation Chapter or Affiliate for opportunities for mentorship, volunteering, camaraderie and building relationships. to give back to their local community & support other Women in Hunting™, the Women Hunt® Program and the Wild Sheep Foundation.
