Welcome to the Wild & Uncut podcast with your host Kristy Titus and special guest, Wildlife Biologist, Johnny Hamilton. This podcast covers everything from the importance of land management, ensuring that wildlife has access to year-round water and the continuous task of noxious weed removal to the restoration of wild sheep herds on private lands that are now providing public opportunities for hunting.
And, as we all know, the topic of wildlife management is arguably one of the most controversial topics that is widely debated. Kristy and Johnny take a deep dive into how many school educators are teaching perspectives that are filled with propaganda and in many cases, lacking a science-based perspective. They take this conversation one-step further in talking about how methods of take are restricted by voting populations that have a bias from media driven anti-hunting PR campaigns, and how lawsuits are hindering the science-based management of wildlife.
Everything boils down to the importance for each and every one of us to get involved by putting pressure on our state Governor’s to appoint qualified wildlife commissioners, attending local commissioner meetings and getting involved with non-profit wildlife organizations like Safari Club International and even The National Rifle Association.
We all want opportunities to hunt quality units which can mean limiting the number of tags issued, changing the type of tags issued to hunters with a big emphasis on effective predator management.
Instead of getting angry, we all have to get involved, get vocal and help make the change happen that we want to see reflected in our public lands.
