WORLD WEATHER HIGHLIGHTS FOR OCTOBER 24, 2023
- Western Australia will continue to struggle with dryness l
- Central Pacific coastal areas of Australia will get rain in the coming week to ten days
- India will be generally dry for the next ten days, although some rain will fall in the far south
- Tropical Cyclone Hamoon will impact Bangladesh, Myanmar and some far Eastern States in India
- Europe will be quite wet over the next ten days except in the southeastern corner of the continent where dryness will prevail
- Rain will impact winter crop areas of Ukraine and Russia’s Southern Region over the next ten days improving crop establishment potential
- Argentina’s greatest rainfall is over for a while, although some periodic light shower and thunderstorm activity will be possible infrequently
- Center west Brazil will see some showers in the coming week, but much of the resulting rain will not counter evaporation very well
- Interior southern Brazil and southern Paraguay will receive too much rain this weekend into next week resulting in a new round of flooding
- Southern Indonesia will experience some periodic rainfall during the next couple of weeks, although resulting rainfall will be well below normal
- Southern China will receive waves of rain in the next week slowing fieldwork, but benefiting future rapeseed development
- Dry conditions elsewhere in China will be great for harvesting of summer crops and the planting of winter crops
- Bitter cold air will drop through western Canada to the northern U.S. Plains the remainder of this week inducing some snow that results in livestock stress and travel delays
- Some of the North America cold will settle into the central and southern Plains this weekend and early next week
- Warming is expected in western North America during the second week of the outlook while cool air spreads through the eastern parts of the continent
- South Africa’s summer crop areas will get some important rain this weekend and next week, although western areas may be missed
- Tropical Storm Otis may become a hurricane today and reach the Guerrero, Mexico coast as a weakening hurricane later this week
- Tropical Depression 21 will produce heavy rain in parts of Nicaragua and Honduras today and Wednesday with no significant crop damage resulting
