WORLD WEATHER HIGHLIGHTS FOR OCTOBER 31, 2023
- Center west Brazil rainfall will continue restricted into the weekend with increasing shower activity next week
- Southern Brazil will receive additional waves of heavy rainfall into Friday before several days of drying finally evolves
- Additional flooding is expected and concern over replanting of summer crops will remain
- Argentina will receive enough rain Wednesday and Thursday to bolster soil moisture in summer crop planting areas so that aggressive planting can occur later in November; some showers are expected today as well
- Argentina will receive additional rain during mid-week next week, although will be mostly in the east-central and northeast
- Rain advertised in northeastern Brazil during the second half of this week and into the weekend will moisten the topsoil for planting
- Freezing temperatures this morning and those expected Wednesday and Thursday in the southern United States will be earlier than usual, but the impact on unharvested crops should be low
- U.S. weather will trend much warmer this weekend into next week
- U.S. summer crop harvest weather should be mostly good, although there will be some periodic delays
- U.S. hard red winter wheat areas will be dry for a while
- Texas cotton harvesting will advance swiftly following this week’s freezes with no rain expected for at least ten days
- Western Europe will continue quite wet for an extended period of time
- Flooding possible in portions of the Adriatic Sea nation’s including Italy
- Flooding is also possible in time over western and southern France, northern Spain and northern Portugal
- Southeastern Europe (including the Black Sea region) will be dry biased for a while, although some showers are expected
- Unusually warm weather from eastern Europe through western Asia will allow winter crops in the Black Sea region to become better established after recent rain
- Far southern India will be wet over the next ten days while seasonal drying occurs elsewhere
- Western Australia rainfall will continue inadequate for winter crops
- East-central Australia rainfall will favor dryland sorghum and cotton planting in southeastern Queensland and northeastern New South Wales Friday through the first half of next week
- South Africa is warming up from its recent unusual bout of cold with snow falling Free State Sunday into Monday
- South Africa week two rain should be widespread enough to bolster planting moisture for summer crops
