Prof. Mario Beauregard is a retired Canadian cognitive neuroscientist. He last taught at the University of Arizona's psychology department, and earlier. During his career Prof Beauregard has focused his research on proving that the mind and consciousness are not limited to neural brain activity and to show that spirituality is central to being a human being. This work has included investigating the brain states of nuns reliving mystical experiences and people reliving previous near death experiences. World Media Net named Mario as one of the 100 pioneers of the 21st century. He is a co-author of the Manifesto for a Post-Materialist Science and one of the founders of the Academy for the Advancement of Postmaterialist Science and the Campaign for Open Science, along with Rupert Sheldrake and Dean Radin. In addition to writing over 100 papers, Prof. Beauregard is the author of several books including the "Spiritual Brain" and "Brain Wars". His most recent is "Expanding Reality: The Emergence of Postmaterialist Science" which lays out the scientific case for consciousness not being reduced to simply brain activity that may lead to a new scientific revolution. He received his doctoral degree from the University of Montreal and has conducted research at the University of Texas and McGill University's Neurological Institute.
