John Stauffer is a professor of English, American studies, and African American studies at Harvard University. He writes and lectures on the Civil War, anti-slavery, social protest movements, and photography. Stauffer is also the author of 20 books and over 100 articles, which focus on Civil War-era leaders, antislavery, social protest, and photography. GIANTS: The Parallel Lives of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln (2008) was a national bestseller. //
