Dad’s Bedtime Stories For Kids
Kids & Family:Stories for Kids
In this episode, the main character turns into a cat and explores a cat world. Unfortunately, some sort of portal opens up releasing giant chickens on the cat's yarn castle. It makes total sense... This one was suggested by Amy O!

About The Podcast:
Kids won’t sleep? Want some time to yourself? This is how to make it happen! I make these bedtime stories up for my own children every night, so I figured I would record them. They are designed to give your child a simple, but somewhat interesting story to listen to. They are first person stories so kids can imagine themselves in the character’s shoes. They are mostly science fiction and fantasy based, because that’s what my kids like. Each episode is a 10-15 minute story followed by white noise to drown out distractions. The character always ends up back in bed, doing a short mindful relaxation exercise to help them off to sleep (if they aren’t there already). Get those kids to sleep!
Most episodes revolve around a kid with a magical spaceship that can transform into anything. He eventually finds a shapeshifting alien dog named changer, and they go on all kinds of adventures, both on earth, and far beyond. There are dinosaurs, dragons, magic, and lots and lots of robots!

Transcript:
Hey, everyone. Welcome back to Dad's bedtime Stories for kids. Tonight's episode was inspired by a user suggestion. This one was from the Google form. It comes in from Amy O. From St. Louis, Missouri, I believe. And Amy wrote in and just said, kittens, evil chickens, yarn Castle. So I will be creating that episode in just a moment. Don't forget, if you have an idea for an episode, write to me at dad Bedtime Stories@gmail.com. Or, fill out the Google form, even if you don't have a new idea for an episode. But there's just sort of a planet you want me to revisit or a sequel to one of your favorite episodes to do. You can still fill out the same things and, let me know. I have also been posting some of the, episode transcripts along with some of the, AI inspired artwork on both Facebook and Instagram, as well as my website, I believe, Dadsbedtimestories.com. So if you want to see what a robot thought this story, would look like if it was turned into pictures for a storybook, you can check them out there. Now get as comfy as you can in your bed. Close your eyes and imagine yourself doing what the kid in the story does. Imagine yourself waking up on the bed of spaceship. You get up and look around. Out the window, you can see stars flying by like streaks of light. You're obviously traveling really fast right now. You swing your feet out of the bed, and you get up. You walk out into the main area, and you say, good morning to Spaceship and Changer. Good morning, spaceship. Good morning, Changer. You say. Good morning, Spaceship replies. Changer runs over to you, jumps up on your leg, and begins to bark. You bend down and pet him on the head a little bit. Well, where do you guys want to go today? You ask. I have discovered a feline planet spaceship explains a, what? You ask a, planet full of cats, spaceship responds, well, I guess that seems pretty cool, Changer. Maybe we could transform into cats and go check things out. Changer barks happily, which means, yes, obviously. Spaceship slightly changes direction, leading you to the left of your current course. And after a little bit longer traveling at super Hyperdrive, the spaceship comes to a stop in front of you. You see, a very beautiful earthlike planet, large areas of ocean, huge green continents with fluffy white clouds floating overhead. You go and grab ahold of the controls. You steer the spaceship towards the planet. You pierce through the atmosphere and drop down below the clouds. You look down at the world below. You and you see something that looks like medieval Earth. There's fields and farms, horses and carriages, anything you might imagine. As you lower the spaceship, down closer to the surface and zoom in on the area below, you see that something is actually different. The difference is cats. Instead of this planet being ruled by, well, humans, it seems to be ruled by cats. There's cats driving the carriages, cats leading, the horses plowing fields, and cats sitting on the porch while they watch their workers work. You pass over a group of, well, what look like soldier cats carrying swords and spears, marching down the road in perfect uni. And eventually, you come to a castle or a, giant ball of yarn, or possibly a giant ball of Yarn Castle. This thing is absolutely massive. Around the outside is a huge wall made almost entirely from yarn that seems to be stuck together like concrete in some way. There's little towers, each made out of a giant yarn ball. And on top of each tower is a set of cats holding bows and arrows and binoculars, keeping an eye on the area around them. Inside the yarn wall are a whole bunch of yarn buildings, each one a different size and different color, spotted around the landscape. All of the little yarn buildings lead up to a much bigger yarn building, the Yarn castle. This thing is made up of a whole pile of yarn balls, each stacked perfectly with little doors and little windows cut inside. The yarn seems to be hollow, though little strings seem to hang around here and there. You watch as some of the cat people get a little bit distracted and begin padding at the little yarn pieces. Everyone looks pretty happy. There's kittens playing in the streets, chasing each other around. There's cat merchants and cat street performers, musicians playing on the streets. The place seems very, very happy, like a cat's paradise. Changer. We need to take a closer look. It's time to become cats. Spaceship, find a safe place to land. Understood. Spaceship responds. Spaceship turns invisible and lands in a nearby field. Changer right in front of you immediately transforms into a cat. Although a cat wearing clothing just like the cats on this planet seem to do, you look down at your watch and flip over to the transmorphizing button. You use it to scan changer's DNA, currently in the form of a cat. And then you press the accept button once again, your arms and legs feel like they're melting. And slowly, you imagine yourself becoming a cat. You shrink down. Your arms and legs get smaller. You grow some sort of tail that seems to respond to your mood. Fur grows out of every part of your body, and your sense of smell sight and hearing becomes enhanced. You feel ready to run and pounce at any moment. But you also feel the urge to just kind of lay down and bathe in the sun for long periods of time as well. Being a cat's kind of strange spaceship, you meow open the, meow hatch, you say in the best you can, using your cat voice. The hatch opens up, and you and changer run outside. It's strange to run on all fours, but you feel incredibly agile. You see a tree nearby, and you decide to climb up to get a better look. You jump up towards the trees, spreading your claws out on your arms and your legs. Or what you think of as your arms and your legs. But, in the case of a cat, are all pretty much legs. You grip onto the tree with no problem at all. You climb up to the very top and look out over the landscape. You see the yarn castle in the distance. You get an idea of which direction to travel, and you slowly jump down from branch to branch. You're amazed at how agile you are. It's no problem leaping from place to place and landing perfectly. You then take the last huge leap onto the ground and land perfectly beside Changer. You and Changer run over to a nearby path or road or something like that, and you begin to head towards the Yarn Castle. As you walk, you hear the bumping of a little cart behind you. You and Changer walk over to the side of the road, allowing the person driving the cart to pass. Meow. Hello, the person driving the cart says. What are you doing, Meow? The person asks. we're just trying to get to the yarn village, you say back, also sounding like a cat. But you probably don't want to hear me do that the whole time. Would m you like a ride, meow? The person asks. Sure. you say. You and Changer jump up on the cart. It's full of bales of hay. You each curl up on one of the bales, and you lay down and relax as the cart bumps forward down the road. Being a cat is really comfortable. You find that this bale of hay is just as comfy as any other bed. As the sun beats down on your fur, it just makes you feel more and more relaxed. You bump along, half asleep, passing others, until you arrive at the Yarn castle. The cart stops, and you and changer stand up on all fours. And then you have the incredible urge to stretch your back. You stretch it straight up like an arc. You feel every bit of your spine stretch out and release all tension. It feels amazing. You leap down onto the ground with ease and begin walking with other groups of cats inside the yarn village. You pass through a huge yarn gate with little pieces of yarn dangling down. You have a very strong urge to jump up at the yarn, but you fight it the best you can and continue on your way into the village. You walk past the merchants who seem to be selling little balls and chew toys and cat treats of all different kinds. One vendor smells amazing. The scent appears in the air in front of you, like a little trail of color or something like that. You Find that you can see exactly where it goes. Changer, follow me, you say in your cat voice. Of course. You follow the trail of scent through the streets until you find a vendor who's cooking something over a barbecue. What could it be, you wonder? As you get closer, you realize that it's fish. Of course. That's what smells so good. Cats can't resist fish, even if you don't like them yourself. It smells like the most delicious thing you could imagine. But just as you're about to try to acquire a piece of this fish, you hear warning bells go off. Everyone around you starts to go into chaos. They begin running inside their buildings, shutting the doors and putting boards over top of them. what's going on? You ask somebody passing by. Meow. It's the chickens. Meow. It's always the chickens. The cat runs away from you. You watch as all of the soldiers from the city begin to gather their weapons. Some of them draw swords with their mouths. Others put on some sort of special metal claw pieces to battle with, while others stand up on 2ft, much like a human would, and draw bows and arrows over top of the yarn wall. You run up one of the yarn walls, jumping up the stairs to the railing to the very side of the castle. And you and Changer look out and you see a huge stampede of what could only be described as giant evil chickens. The chickens begin to attack the side of the wall, and the cat people do their best to fend off against them, shooting arrows down at them, jumping off of the wall and using their claws to scratch the chickens and scare them away. But no matter what they do, the chickens just seem to continue biting away at the, Changer, do you have any idea what chickens don't like? Maybe we can help out here. Changer looks at you, tilts his head to the side for a second, and then he begins to grow. He grows and grows and grows until he's the size and shape of a huge fox. Oh, good idea, you say you look down at your watch, and you press the button on it once again, it scans the huge fox creature, and then you press accept. You begin to grow larger and larger. You remain on all fours, but your head changes shape. Your teeth get a little bit sharper, you feel a little bit stronger, and soon you're towering over the wall of the yarn castle, looking down at what to you look like normal sized chickens. You and Changer begin to snarl at the chickens, and as, the chickens see you, they turn in the other direction, and they begin to flap their wings and run away. You and Changer chase after them. You feel incredibly agile, and being a giant fox, you feel very powerful as well. You chase the chickens through the trees, which break in half as you hit them. The chickens run back in the other direction, down into a field, and then you see a portal. Oh, my goodness. There's some sort of chicken portal here. You realize. You and changer zigzag around the field, chasing the chickens back towards the portal, and one by one, they jump inside. When all of the chickens are inside, you and changer approach the portal. You watch as suddenly a little chicken head pokes out of it, looks at you, looks at changer, goes, and puts its head back inside the portal as quickly as it can. You press the button on your watch, using your nose once again, and you start to feel very melty. You slowly shrink down, back into the size and shape of a human. You stretch your arms, legs, and fingers, once again getting used to being in this body once more. Changer shrinks down as well beside you, turning back to his normal form of a little Earth looking dog. spaceship, can you get over here? You say, into your watch. Understood. Spaceship responds. You hear a strange sound, like a gust of wind, when spaceship suddenly appears above you. Spaceship, what's this portal? You ask. Scanning portal. Spaceship responds. A, blue light shines out of the ship onto the portal. Analyzing now. This portal seems to be a shortcut through space and time, leading to a planet full of chickens. Hm. I have seen this before. Spaceship says, is there any way to get rid of this portal? It's going to keep attacking the cat Castle yarn thingy over there, you say? Yes, I have a brilliant idea. Spaceship says. Spaceship flies overboard, and soon the back hatch opens up. A whole bunch of little robots fly out the back, each one carrying some sort of metal panel or something like that. Slowly, they begin building a metal cage around the portal. They weld it all together until there's a giant metal dome surrounding the thing. Not a lot bigger than the portal itself. This does not stop the portal. However, it should stop any chickens. Spaceship says, oh, good idea, you say. Back to spaceship. Well, I guess the cat city of Yarn is safe once again, thanks to us. Good job, Changer. Changer barks and jumps up and down. You kneel down and pet him on the head. His fur is incredibly soft, almost as if it's made of silk. Spaceship lands in the field beside the giant metal dome that it surrounded the portal with. The back hatch opens up, and all of the little robots fly inside. You and Changer walk up the ramp, and it closes behind you. You sit down on the couch in the living room. As Spaceship lifts up off the ground, it flies out over the yarn planet, where all of the cats seem to be coming outside. Once again, safe from the chickens, but confused about the giant foxes that chase them away, you fly up through the clouds and pierce through the atmosphere. Once again, the ship jumps to super hyperdrive, and you and Changer just lay down on the couch. Changer curls up on top of your stomach, and you begin to pet his gentle, silky hair. Your eyes begin to get heavy once again, so you just let them close. With each outbreath, you sink down deeper and deeper into the mattress M and you allow yourself to drift off to sleep. Good night, everyone. Bye.
