A Lawsuit Alleges Modern Day Slavery in Alabama Prisons (Guest: State Rep. Kenyatte Hassell)
Josh and David open with a discussion about the lawsuit alleging that Alabama's prisons are engaging in modern-day slavery by forcing inmates to work for private companies and denying them parole to continue this forced labor. And they discuss the shooting of Steve Perkins by Decatur police and the lawsuits being filed in response, as well as calls for policy changes in policing.
State Rep. Kenyatte Hassell zooms in to talk about the prison situation, voting rights, expanding absentee voting and making the process more efficient, and Democrats' plan to focus on voting rights in the upcoming 2024 Legislative Session.
In the close, Josh and David take on the actions of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who has been inserting himself between a woman seeking an abortion and her doctors.
