Tradition is a powerful and wonderful part of Christmas. The food, the music, the decorations and trimmings, and the funny memories. However, if our traditions don’t go just as we would like them to, Christmas can feel…off. Or, worse, like a letdown. The true story of Christmas was all wrong for a king. Think about it: It was pretty gross. Way too many animals probably made it a messy, stinky scene flooded with uninvited shepherds, while the whole thing was shrouded in scandal and difficulty. But…this imperfect story is the greatest thing to ever happen to humankind. If we’re only focused on a perfect Christmas, we’ll miss the point that Jesus came to transform us. Nothing is ever going to give us what our hearts long for except Jesus. That’s the point. Jesus alone transforms, redeems, and brings real joy and life change this Christmas. Jesus is coming.
