In this sermon, Lester Pillay invites us on a journey with Malachi, a humble shepherd whose life intersects with divine revelation. As Malachi endures injustice due to his lowly status, he encounters a heavenly announcement of Christ's birth—a Savior wrapped in simplicity, lying in a manger. The shepherds, once silent on the fringes of society, now herald an ancient promise: a child destined to be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). After decades, Malachi's search leads him to the foot of a cross, his heart heavy as the eyes of the baby he once beheld now close in death. The Savior's sacrifice echoes the prophecy, "He was pierced for our transgressions" (Isaiah 53:5), cementing Malachi's realization of Jesus, the Lamb who takes away the sins of the world. Let us draw near to the Bible, embracing the gospel story, and see through Malachi's eyes.
