Last week brought devastating news from Jammu & Kashmir on account of two brutal incidents: A terrorist ambush on an Army convoy in Poonch that killed four soldiers, and the alleged custodial death of three local residents rounded up by the Army as part of its ensuing investigation. Purported videos of the latter incident, which appear to show the victims being tortured, have gone viral. The Modi government was quick to take action on the matter, with the Brigadier heading the 13 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, who was in charge of Poonch, moved out pending a high-level investigation.
