RTDB 18: Christian Quietism (Zarling / Hagen)

In episode 18 of the Resisting the Dragon’s Beast podcast/video, Pastor Hagen and Pastor Zarling discuss Christian quietism. We quietly go about our lives hoping that people don’t notice us too much. We also don’t want to notice very much, either. We like being left alone. We like a live-and-let-live type of lifestyle. We allow the culture to go where it wants, as long as it doesn’t impact us too much.

 

With our spirit of quietism, we may think that if we leave our culture alone it will leave us and our children alone. But it doesn’t work like that. It is naïve to think that the Church will be left alone to do what it does. We need to assess our culture – where it is attacking us – and devise a game plan, both defensive and offensive. When Christians remain quiet, the lies of the devil fill the silence.

 

We need to be aggressive like John the Baptist and preach boldly by being both defensive and offensive with the kingdom of God. We defensively resist the devil and the devil’s beasts of the persecuting government and the apostate church. We offensively go into the killing fields of this world with the message of John the Baptist preaching repentance and forgiveness of sins.
