Every so often in boxing we're shown that the invincible are beatable, and we see how easy it is for heroes to be knocked off their perches. Last weekend both Gennady Golovkin and Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez lost a little bit of their shine on HBO Pay-Per-View against Daniel Jacobs and Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, respectively.
Golovkin, who narrowly beat Jacobs despite clearly having difficulty, was knocked down a peg in public opinion following a less-than-brutish performance. Whether or not he should be is a different story, but when the unexpected happens...
In the co-feature, Sor Rungvisai managed to push around and out-muscle Gonzalez, the former pound-for-pound king. It was a close fight, but one many felt Gonzalez won.
This week on Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio, author and filmmaker Brin-Jonathan Butler and boxing writer/historian Patrick Connor team up to recap the PPV and more.
