Today is Wednesday January 24. On today's show:
**Tomorrow, Join Bamm Bamm & Pebbles at the Podbean drivin' theater: We will be watching the documentary "All things must pass: The rise and fall of Tower Records," and having a LIVE screen chat on the Podbean app., starting at 7pm MTN. We will be watching it free on YouTube, at your own houses, so you can get ready. Friday during the music segment, I will compile a list of artists that either played at Tower Records or came into the store for an album signing.
**I like to start the show with the word of the day & quote of the day. You may need these words of encouragement to brighten your day.
These positive words can significantly influence when used correctly and with someone who may need them.
So, let's go!
Today's word of the day is "Revenge."
//: the action of inflicting hurt or harm on someone for an injury or wrong suffered at their hands:
**Quote of the day:

"Revenge is sweet. There's no way to describe it…it is awesome." - Now that is by Kyle Relly - and I 100% disagree with this quote.
Revenge or Avenge
Do you act out with revenge?
Avenge is a verb – to avenge is to punish a wrongdoing with the intent of seeing justice done. Whereas REVENGE is more personal, less concern with justice and more about retaliation by inflicting harm.
(Revenge is committing a harmful action against a person or group in response to a grievance, be it real or perceived. Primitive justice or retributive justice is often differentiated from more formal …)
Revenge is doing something to hurt another person because they believe that person hurt them. It is also called vengeance, vendetta, payback, retribution or retaliation.
Revenge re-opens and aggravates your emotional wounds. Even though you might be tempted to punish a wrong, you end up punishing yourself because you can’t heal.
While taking revenge, it is not morally right to do more harm to the enemy than they did to you. Revenge can unite people, and not in a good way. Vengeful people connect to each other like flies to shit. They have the same agenda…to hurt & destroy.
**Understanding how emotions and thoughts influence behavior is important for people who have intense emotions and are often ruled by them. Meaning they cannot control their anger and most importantly MOUTH! It will spew vitriol before thinking.
We have all had people like that in our lives. Someone in my past, was constantly being banned on this platform or that platform because they could not ever control ….well basically their mouth.
We need to have knowledge about emotions and the thoughts that strengthen or soften those emotions, will help develop ways to better manage their crappy actions.
I am saying this for us, so that if, and when we ever feel the need to be vengeful. And yes, I am not immune from this all-consuming disease of having revenge.
Revenge is a struggle that is centuries old. Shakespeare said, “If you prick us do we not bleed? If you tickle us do we not laugh? If you poison us do we not die? AND if you wrong us shall we not revenge?” Shakespeare clearly thought revenge was normal.
But, what about the idea that revenge is self-destructive?? Confucius said, “Before you emark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves.”
Gandhi seemed to agree, he said, “An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind.”
But who of us hasn’t said, “I hope he gets what he deserves,” or wish that Karma would strike sooner in the person that you think has hurt you. I have "thought" those things BUT the difference is, I never act out and do it. Out-of-control revenge, attack and counterattack only destroys the lives of all involved.
For the revenger it is a form of establishing justice. Revenge is just uncontrolled anger that has turned to hatred, our word of the day on Monday.
The revenger who has been hurt seems to believe without any doubt, first that they did nothing wrong, and secondly that if the other party suffers, then they will feel better, and their pain will lessen. But that is soooo not true.
Revenge makes you feel worse in the long run. You might "PLAY" that all is ok. That you moved on. Whatever lie you tell yourself. But again, you acted out on your anger.
So, What to do when you have thoughts of revenge??
- How about waiting until you are emotionally calm and can actually think rationally before making decisions. Now if you have been doing this all your life, it will not come easy, the act of choosing NOT to act out on your anger.
- Focus on what is in your control-
Sometimes it may be that standing up for yourself is the right step. BUT do so in a positive way.
- You have to know that some people will break your trust. That is allllll about them, and not about you!!
Remember, weak people revenge. Strong people forgive, Intelligent people ignore.
Listen to this from fearless soul on revenge.
Her is one last quote, that I do agree with, "The best revenge is to have enough self-worth not to seek it." -
You got this; I believe in you!!
