A) In 2 Timothy 2:9, Apostle Paul imparts a profound truth to his young protégé, Timothy. He says, “Even though I’m suffering as an evildoer to the point of chains, jail, and restriction, the word of God is not chained or restricted.” Paul wants Timothy to understand that even in his imprisonment, people are being saved.
B) Paul then boldly proclaims something he had mentioned earlier to Timothy and Titus. He urges them to “endure all things for the sake of the elect.” This means we should tolerate whatever comes our way, especially if it provides an opportunity to bless God’s elect, His chosen children. Even if a situation appears difficult, it doesn’t make it any less opportunistic to be an example to bless people.
