A) Paul then boldly proclaims something he had mentioned earlier to Timothy and Titus. He urges them to “endure all things for the sake of the elect.” This means we should tolerate whatever comes our way, especially if it provides an opportunity to bless God’s elect, His chosen children. Even if a situation appears difficult, it doesn’t make it any less opportunistic to be an example to bless people.
B) Paul shares quotations from an early hymn or confession to demonstrate the Lord’s faithfulness. He says, “If we die in the Lord, we live in the Lord… If we endure, we reign.” This serves as motivation. However, if we continually deny God, not just momentarily, we will be ashamed before Him at His coming. If we prove unfaithful, it doesn’t change who God is. He will always remain faithful.
