1) To tell you the truth, I am extremely excited to teach this next message. It's been a long time since I've taught this. I've mentioned two elements here, which I will discuss. These are things that the Lord communicated to me during two fasts. Sometimes, the details become a bit fuzzy, perhaps due to my aging, but I will do my best to convey to you what the Lord conveyed to me. If anything from this can help you draw closer to the Lord, then it's worth its weight in gold.
2) Here's the crux of the matter. The most challenging aspect of our faith is understanding the answer to this simple question: Are we seeking praise from men, or are we seeking praise from God? We will demonstrate that answering this question incorrectly can lead to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, both in the past and today. We will also examine the danger of befriending those who are not friends of God. We love them, pray for them, and hope for them, but we do not let them influence us.
3) You must stand firm in the Lord and not be swayed by those around you. Everyone may think you're crazy, and maybe you are. I know I am a little bit, but if being crazy leads me to spend eternity with God and gain access to heaven through the redeeming work of Jesus Christ, then I will gladly be crazy.
4) We're going to conclude this particular teaching by understanding how Jesus approached the approval of men and God. We aim to follow Jesus's example, and he made it clear whom he was living for, regardless of the cost. I must say this, but I say it with caution: the voice of the people is not the voice of God. Standing with anything other than the voice of God is utter foolishness. We will examine how Jesus processed this in his thinking so we can follow his example.
