Most of us could probably name a time when someone showed up to be with us at an important moment in our life. Perhaps a family member traveled a long distance to help us celebrate our graduation, or a friend came to the funeral of someone we had lost, or a stranger sat with us through an emergency so we wouldn’t have to wait for help alone. Stories like these remind us that our presence is powerful. That’s an especially important insight for the way we do church. If we’re going to live into the kind of God-sized vision that Jesus has for the church, we must make a habit of showing up. In today’s sermon, we’ll explore what that entails and why it matters.
