Featured in TIR Episode 336 (Part 2 of 2): Singer and composer Jill Jones, best known for her work with Prince and associated artists from the early 1980s through early 1990s. Starting out singing background for Teena Marie, in 1982 she began recording and touring with Prince for the 1999 album and shows. Also appearing in Prince’s “Purple Rain” and “Graffiti Bridge” movies, she released her fantastic self-titled debut album in 1987.
Jones was involved with several projects in the 1990s, some of which went unreleased. Since the early 2000s, she has put out two acoustic-oriented rock albums and another of electronic dance music. Earlier this year, she unveiled the peppy pop-dance track, “Unattainable Love,” and later other tracks from her wonderful new album London Sessions, which dropped April 16.
