Casting Lots (“Stranger Things” Week 1)

Today, we launch a new sermon series on “Stranger Things” from the Bible, understanding things that we’d find strange today, from Old Testament practices to miraculous events. Today’s topic seems odd at first, but it’s something we tend to do, even subconsciously: casting lots. That’s right, a kind of ‘gambling’ to try to determine God’s will. This is even how the remaining 11 disciples decided who to replace Judas with after Jesus’ ascension.
