As Christian parents, we must get clear on what we are aiming for with our children. How can we ever hit the mark if we don't know what we're endeavoring to accomplish? And what is it we want to accomplish? A good education? A good personality? A good job? A good spouse? A good family? All of this may be a part of a parent's aim. However, what should life's highest aim be? To get an understanding of this, we're going to look in the Old Testament at the book of Deuteronomy.
And now, Israel, what does the Lord thy God require of thee? But to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all His ways, and that word fear means to respect the Lord thy God, to walk in all His ways, to love Him, to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, and to keep the commandments of the Lord and His statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good. What God requires of man is not left up to guesswork. We can know that we know what God wants from us because His word tells us so.
