Wake-Up Call With Bill Lundun & Gerry Snyder
News:News Commentary
Over the last year, you have helped to spread the story of Constructing a Brighter Future, a program that allowed high school students to build shelters for the unhoused.
We have big news. The program received amazing news and was awarded 2.6 million to expand to more districts and middle schools. With the expansion comes a new name: Team Oregon Build.
As the program expands, it is not just about constructing shelters anymore. Schools now have the opportunity to build auxiliary components such as garden beds, chairs, and picnic tables. This expansion not only broadens the scope of the program but also enhances the learning experience for the students.
Since launching ~10 weeks ago, we have received 132 order requests from 40 unique participating high and middle schools across Oregon, representing nearly 4,000 students building ‘8x16 transitional housing units, 8x16 storage sheds, 8x8 sheds, and shelter accessories such as tables, chairs, and flower boxes.
