In this episode of 15-Minute Fitness Fix, Coach Kinsley addresses fitness plateaus, explaining how progress in strength, muscle growth, or weight loss can level off around four to six months into a routine. To break through, she recommends progressive overload—gradually increasing workout difficulty by adding weight, increasing reps, or slowing down movements. Additionally, switching up your routine by changing exercise types can keep muscles adapting and prevent them from becoming too comfortable.
Nutrition is equally important in overcoming plateaus. Coach Kinsley advises adjusting your diet based on your goals: reduce calories for weight loss, increase protein for muscle gain, or a combination of both. She suggests meal ideas like fish with green beans and rice for meat-eaters, and rice and beans with added vegetables for non-meat eaters. Combining these workout and nutrition strategies can help you push past a plateau and continue making progress.
