On July 4, 2010, Shonda Townsend spent a festive day with friends and family in Mineral Wells, Texas. After a cookout, swimming, and fireworks, she left to return to her home in Perrin, Texas, where she lived with her mother and 2-year-old son, Haiden. Shonda never made it home. Her 1997 Toyota Camry was found two days later, ransacked, in a rough part of Mineral Wells.
Despite extensive searches and interviews by police and private groups, Shonda remained missing. Over a year later, in October 2011, her remains were discovered. Dental records confirmed her identity, but the mystery of her disappearance and death remains unsolved.
