📖 Scripture: Mark 2:17
👨💻 Teaching:
1. Jesus can only be intimate with those who know they are sinners.
2. Self-righteousness is the main hindrance to intimacy with Christ.
3. The cry of repentance is more intimate than the praise of the righteous.
💪 Application:
1. Do not be self-righteous.
2. View ourselves as sinners saved by grace.
3. Never stop approaching God, no matter how grave our sins are.
🎙Discussion:
Why is self-righteousness a hindrance to having an intimate relationship with God?
🙏 Prayer:
Father, forgive me because sometimes I see myself as holier and better than others, when in reality, I am just a sinner saved by grace. Thank You for the gospel that saved a wretched sinner like me. I became holy and blameless—all because of what Jesus did on the cross—purely by grace. I am forgiven, and I am cleansed by the blood of Jesus. Lord, teach me humility. Rebuke me whenever I become self-righteous. It is my deepest desire to be intimate with You. In Jesus’ name, amen!
