1982 saw the rise of Rocky’s new nemesis - Clubber Lang. Starting with the Eye of the Tiger, Rocky III showed is was different than the slower and longer Rocky’s 1 & II by putting its foot on the gas from the start. Join tonight’s show as we relive that wild ride.
The UA logo and theme play, the ending of Rocky II rolls, Eye of the Tiger fires us up as a montage of Rocky’s first 6 title defenses rolls, Rocky fights Hulk Hogan, a new challenger gently introduces himself (Hey, woman! Hey, woman!), the new challenger beats the brakes off Rocky, Apollo becomes Rocky’s manager and Rocky beats the piss out of Clubber in the rematch.
Fade to man hugs and leave the theater an hour and a half later.
There was Rocky III in two sentences, one long.
