American Grit is the extraordinary story of the concentration camps in America during World War II when 122,000 people, including 50,000 American children and babies, were incarcerated because of their race, the young men who volunteered from the camps to fight and die for the U.S. Army to prove their loyalty to America while their families remained imprisoned by the U.S. Army. The story aims to encourage readers to reflect on the importance of learning from our history and bringing communities together to shape a better future. It is a tribute to Kash, Louise, and all of the men and women of the era whose courage and resilience inspire us to honor the past by never forgetting their undue hardships and perseverance, and educating the future to prevent concentration camps in America from ever happening again.
