DIABOLICAL: Evil Schemes Done Better
TV & Film:Film Reviews
“Yippie ki yay, mother pucker”
The panel of peril successfully extinguish a housefire, with absolutely NO casualties, thereby proving themselves better than the lead of this week’s film. That star is Jean Claude Van Damme, that film is Sudden Death (Peter Hyams, 1995), and our guest at this time is the Editor of Empire Magazine and author of The Last Action Heroes, Nick De Semlyen.
Darren McCord (JCVD) is a disgraced (?) former firefighter getting by working at his local ice hockey stadium as a safety marshall. Treating his kids to tickets to the Stanley Cup finals proves to be quite the error, though, as Joshua Foss (Powers Boothe) and his goons invade the stadium and take the visiting Vice President of the United States (Raymond J. Barry) hostage! What does Foss want, and can our high-kicking hero stop him before the final whistle?

********PLOT SPOILER ALERT********
Foss wants money, of course! A lot of money from a lot of banks, to be diverted into a lot more other banks at the close of each third of the game! If his demands aren’t met, come full-time, the arena will be blown to smithereens. Unless our Belgian/French Canadian hero can defuse the bombs, defeat a penguin mascot in fisticuffs, rescue the kids, and save the VP.
Did the panel enjoy this week’s cinematic soupcon? Could they find a way to improve Foss’s villainous plan? And who will be named this week’s most diabolical (person/podcast((er)))?
