This week's show, right from the top, showing the ageless and timeless passion and spirit that runs through all of rock, country and blues, and how good music, good popular music has been lost in the corporate shuffle over the last 3 decades of faceless, nameless, passion-less "product" driven by the labels, the programmers and the corporations.
The top half of the show leads off with what is possibly one of the greatest songs ever written, done live by it's writer with the able assistance of one of America's other greatest songwriters (you'll have to listen for any more details) paired up with an oldie that sums up every rocker's wishes. Launching off of that into:
- Amanda Shirer
- Paul Brady
- Paul Thorn
And finishing that set up with another old one that sums it all up.
The second half of the show takes a whole bunch of these exciting, independent label, small club playing passionate bands:
- Cody Canada & The Departed, The Sheepdogs, Ty Stone, Jonathan Tyler & The Northern Lights, Taddy Porter, Rival Sons and American Bang
And pairs them up with bands from 30,35 & 40 years ago NOT to say that there isn't anything new, but to draw the comparison and show that these kids are just as good as, and deserve just as much support and belief as bands that sold out tours constantly for years, and strings of #1 albums like:
- The Allman Brothers Band, Foghat, Montrose, Aerosmith, The Rockets, Poco and Humble Pie
My generation, the baby boomers are dangerously close to turning into the parents of the '50's and '60's and these kids don't deserve that, not one bit. They deserve our encouragement and our support. We broke rock and roll to the world in FM and album format and are right on the edge of becoming a "turn that shit down" generation. For me, personally, I refuse to grow up in that aspect. It was rock and roll, in part, that saw me through my darkest hours, and it's rock and roll that deserves me turning around and giving it that kind of support now.

Get a hold of me, and we'll set up a live interview or phone call, whether you're a fan, a musician, a band or in the business as a producer or tech person. The show can always be caught in iTunes as a podcast. Remember to give Shooter Jennings your support and listen to Electric Rodeo on Saturday nights on Sirius/XM or check out his website and roster of independent talent and artists that are too rock for country, and too country for rock over at givememyxxx.com
Peace out. Kiss your kids, tell the ones you love that you do, out loud. Remember that this rodeo, this flying circus called life has one and only one guarantee, it's a one way ticket. So squeeze all the juice and joy out of you can, and remember that life is not a dress rehearsal. Climb up into the chute, suicide wrap your right hand in and go for you 8 seconds and that cowbell.
