Frank Schaeffer is a reformed fundamentalist Christian leader, who with his renowned father, Dr. Francis Schaeffer, was instrumental in launching the Christian Right’s anti-abortionist movement into the public arena. Growing up, Frank was fully immersed in the upbringing and Biblical doctrinal atmosphere if Evangelicalism, having befriended many of the most famous Evangelical and Reconstructionist Christian leaders before departing from the faith upon realizing the Christian right’s theology and morality rooted in what he calls “corruption and insanity.”
He has since been a Hollywood film director and screenwriter, and the author of twenty books, fiction and non-fiction, much which deals with growing up in a prominent Evangelical family and critiquing the theologies and politics of the Christian Right’s movement in America.
His most recent book is “Sex, Mom and God: How the Bible’s Strange Take on Sex Led to Crazy Politics and How I learned to Love Women Anyway.”
