Usually, it’s overstated
When I get better
So do you
And then I have some more to do.
This endless cycle of better and best
Puts even the best of us to the test.
When does this rat race ever stop?
Why won’t you quit? So I can drop
My act about my betterment
And just enjoy retirement?
I will quit if you will, too.
What’s that? You have more to do?
Let’s get back on this treadmill fast
And hope our feets and shoes will last.
