I am on the advisory board for the Spiritual Naturalist Society.
I don’t use the word spiritual much in my practice as a Humanist as I find that word can be very confusing.
I am a material naturalist, not a supernatural spiritualist.
----more----
But we need to remember that being spiritual is not the same thing as being a spiritualist.
The reason I am participating in the Spiritual Naturalist Society is that I think that those of us who hold a natural worldview need to do more to teach others how to live life successfully and happily without supernaturalism.
We need to provide a naturalist framework for learning that doesn’t just focus on reason, though that is obviously important.
The Spiritual Naturalist Society does that.
It draws on several world traditions that are all based in naturalism, to provide a forum of discussion on what are essentially best practices for living. How we go about living life is important to me.
It is what gives our life meaning.
It’s a great group of folks, so check it out at: http://spiritualnaturalistsociety.org/
