Judges 6
Gideon
11 The angel of the LORD came and sat down under the oak in Ophrah that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, where his son Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress to keep it from the Midianites.
12 When the angel of the LORD appeared to Gideon, he said, "The LORD is with you, mighty warrior."
-God has a name for you
13"But sir," Gideon replied, "if the LORD is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our fathers told us about when they said, 'Did not the LORD bring us up out of Egypt?' But now the LORD has abandoned us and put us into the hand of Midian."
-Gideon questions why God is not performing miracles like in the day's gone by.
14The LORD turned to him and said, "Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian's hand. Am I not sending you?"
-The Lord responds immediately
15"But Lord, " Gideon asked, "how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family."
-Gideon does not recognize in himself, what God created him to be
16The LORD answered, "I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites together."
-Each of us is uniquely made by God for His purpose. When you come into relationship with God and let his will work through you, you will be mighty.
What keeps most of us from letting God's will work through us? Excuses. The fewer excuses, the farther you will go.
The second thing that keeps you from God, comfort. Gideon was called out of his comfort zone, and into battle.
Things to consider, what excuses do you need to let go of? What is it that you are designed for, does staying comfortable keep you from it?
Acts 1
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
