‘Campfire’ by Rend Collective music review

Background Info Rend Collective Experiment are a Northern Irish Christian Experimental, folk/rock worship band originating from Bangor, Northern Ireland. The band have released 3 albums now, ‘Campfire’ being the most recent (they released ‘Organic Family Hymnal’ in September 2010 and ‘Homemade Worship for Homemade People’ in January 2012). Campfire was released in January this year (2013). They use a wide range of instruments from the Ukulele to the Boadhram!
The album starts off with a reflective version of ‘Kumbaya’ as an introduction, to give you a taste of what the album is like, lasting about 30 second. The other songs on the album last a standard 3-4 minutes each. There are songs on the album that are reflective, such as ‘Desert Soul’ (track number 3), ‘You Bled’ (track number 7) and ‘Alabaster’ (track number 8), where you can just allow the music to help you think about worshipping God and these songs provide an intimate link between you and God.
There are also songs that you can sing and dance to, and just let yourself go while listening to them, such as ‘Build Your Kingdom Here’ (track number 3), ‘You Are My Vision’ (track number 5) and ‘Praise Like Fireworks’ (track number 12) where you can enjoy yourself and forget about any worries that you have and just give them to God (I often do this!)
This band boasts expertise in a subtle way, with the way the bands voices blend together, creating a layered effect. The lead singer of the band (Chris Llewellyn) shows masterful control of his voice, using it artfully.
