Christian witness to the gospel is incomplete without extended, respect-filled, honest conversation. Evangelism requires an evangel, one who shares the good news. Pastor Phil Kniss encouraged the congregation to claim their role as evangels, willing to speak the good news of God’s salvation. As we notice God’s Kingdom breaking into this world, we are called to help it along and point it out to the world. Luke 10:1-9 gives a model of how we might be a preacher-hood of all believers. The disciples observed and participated in a community before they proceeded to proclaim the Kingdom of God drawing near. Pastor Phil encouraged us to discern our context to see where the Kingdom of God intersected with our world. Our proclamation of the gospel is not coercive, not removed from real life, and not abstract. So we should not be hesitant to share it. I Peter 3:13-17, invites us to humbly share this gospel. May we find joy in doing so.
