Holly G and Rich Bianco are in the studio on the night before the start of the 2013-2104 season start. The Frys.com Open is the first event.
The two kick off the show talking about the U.S.'s domination of the President's Cup. Holly talks about many of the headlines at the Presidents Cup.
Bob Harig, ESPN.com, calls in to talk to Holly and Rich first about the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays series that just ended.
Holly asks Bob about the Presidents Cup 2013 and all the crazy headlines. Bob shared that there were a lot of things that were not golf that went on and compared it to the Ryder Cup. The two talk about the competition and the history of the Presidents Cup.
Bob said that Graham DeLaet was "the player" on the International Team. Tiger Woods had to be the player on the U.S. side. He was the one who clinched it for the U.S. Jason Dufner had a really solid performance for the U.S. as well.
Jeff Babineau, Golfweek editor, calls in to the show to talk to Holly and Rich about the streaker at the Presidents Cup. Jeff was "fortunately or unfortunately" there when it happened. Jeff commented on the fact that the event was closer than expected. Jeff also talks about the players for the U.S. and the pairings. Holly talks to Jeff about the upcoming Frys.com Open and this year it is the kickoff to the 2013-2014 season. Used to be the fall season, now counts toward the FedEx Cup playoffs.
Todd Lewis, The Golf Channel, calls in from California to wrap up the show. Todd talks about the weather and how it affected the broadcasting of the event. It was shown tape delayed and that was about the only option for NBC.
Todd spent some time with Marc Leishman after the event and he spoke about the chemistry problem. The International Team really didn't know one another before the President's Cup. This is a team event.
Todd talks to Holly about "the squirrel." Davis Love III was there at the second hole where the squirrel had fallen out of its nest. Love being the outdoorsmen picked up the squirrel and the rest is history.
Todd also talks about the start of the season beginning this week and how that has changed from years past. 14 rookies on the Tour are looking forward to playing right away on the PGA Tour. Now you can earn 500 FedEx Cup points and an invitation to a major. Todd feels that by doing this a wrap-around season helps save these events and keep them relevant.
