Proverbs 8: Wisdom Before The Beginning

The Call of Wisdom
[Pro 8:1 ESV] Does not wisdom call? Does not understanding raise her voice?
[Pro 8:2 ESV] On the heights beside the way, at the crossroads she takes her stand;
[Pro 8:3 ESV] beside the gates in front of the town, at the entrance of the portals she cries aloud:
[Pro 8:4 ESV] "To you, O men, I call, and my cry is to the children of man.

The Gospel Calls
[Mat 22:1 ESV] And again Jesus spoke to them in parables, saying,
[Mat 22:2 ESV] "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son,
[Mat 22:3 ESV] and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding feast, but they would not come.
[Mat 22:4 ESV] Again he sent other servants, saying, 'Tell those who are invited, "See, I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast."'
[Mat 22:5 ESV] But they paid no attention and went off, one to his farm, another to his business,
[Mat 22:6 ESV] while the rest seized his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them.
[Mat 22:7 ESV] The king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city.
[Mat 22:8 ESV] Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy.
[Mat 22:9 ESV] Go therefore to the main roads and invite to the wedding feast as many as you find.'
[Mat 22:10 ESV] And those servants went out into the roads and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good. So the wedding hall was filled with guests.
[Mat 22:11 ESV] "But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment.
[Mat 22:12 ESV] And he said to him, 'Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?' And he was speechless.
[Mat 22:13 ESV] Then the king said to the attendants, 'Bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'
[Mat 22:14 ESV] For many are called, but few are chosen."

Benefit; prudence and sense
[Pro 8:5 ESV] O simple ones, learn prudence; O fools, learn sense.

Only Truth
[Pro 8:6 ESV] Hear, for I will speak noble things, and from my lips will come what is right,
[Pro 8:7 ESV] for my mouth will utter truth; wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
[Pro 8:8 ESV] All the words of my mouth are righteous; there is nothing twisted or crooked in them.

Straight Shoot’n Truth
[Pro 8:9 ESV] They are all straight to him who understands, and right to those who find knowledge.
[Pro 8:10 ESV] Take my instruction instead of silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold,
[Pro 8:11 ESV] for wisdom is better than jewels, and all that you may desire cannot compare with her.

We say we value God and His Bible. But how much time, emotion, energy and money to invest in God?
Follow your money and time and that is where your heart truly is.

Prudence, knowledge & discretion
[Pro 8:12 ESV] "I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion.

[Pro 8:13 ESV] The fear of the LORD is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.
Do you hate evil? Or are you tolerant of evil?

Counsel, Sound Wisdom, Insight, Strength
[Pro 8:14 ESV] I have counsel and sound wisdom; I have insight; I have strength.

[Pro 8:20 ESV] I walk in the way of righteousness, in the paths of justice,
[Pro 8:21 ESV] granting an inheritance to those who love me, and filling their treasuries.

[Pro 8:22 ESV] "The LORD possessed me at the beginning of his work, the first of his acts of old.
[Pro 8:23 ESV] Ages ago I was set up, at the first, before the beginning of the earth.
[Pro 8:24 ESV] When there were no depths I was brought forth, when there were no springs abounding with water.
[Pro 8:25 ESV] Before the mountains had been shaped, before the hills, I was brought forth,
[Pro 8:26 ESV] before He had made the earth with its fields, or the first of the dust of the world.
[Pro 8:27 ESV] When He established the heavens, I was there; when He drew a circle on the face of the deep,
[Pro 8:28 ESV] when He made firm the skies above, when He established the fountains of the deep,
[Pro 8:29 ESV] when He assigned to the sea its limit, so that the waters might not transgress his command, when He marked out the foundations of the earth,
[Pro 8:30 ESV] then I was beside Him, like a master workman, and I was daily His delight, rejoicing before Him always,
[Pro 8:31 ESV] rejoicing in His inhabited world and delighting in the children of man.

Life & Favor from the LORD
[Pro 8:32 ESV] "And now, O sons, listen to me: blessed are those who keep my ways.
[Pro 8:33 ESV] Hear instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it.
[Pro 8:34 ESV] Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting beside my doors.
[Pro 8:35 ESV] For whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor from the LORD,

Love Death
[Pro 8:36 ESV] but he who fails to find me injures himself; all who hate me love death."
