The Message: Here is God’s Standard. You can’t keep God’s Standard, so here is a sacrificial system to keep God’s Wrath from breaking out. However it wasn’t just ritual sacrifice. It had to be worshipful sacrifice.
[Psa 51:16 ESV] For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering.
[Psa 51:17 ESV] The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.
[Psa 51:18 ESV] Do good to Zion in your good pleasure; build up the walls of Jerusalem;
[Psa 51:19 ESV] then will you delight in right sacrifices, in burnt offerings and whole burnt offerings; then bulls will be offered on your altar.
God only accepted sacrifices from those who Loved Him.
[Isa 1:2 ESV] Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth; for the LORD has spoken: "Children have I reared and brought up, but they have rebelled against me.
[Isa 1:11 ESV] "What to me is the multitude of your sacrifices? says the LORD; I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of well-fed beasts; I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of goats.
[Isa 1:13 ESV] Bring no more vain offerings; incense is an abomination to me. New moon and Sabbath and the calling of convocations-- I cannot endure iniquity and solemn assembly.
[Isa 1:14 ESV] Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hates; they have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them.
[Isa 1:15 ESV] When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; even though you make many prayers, I will not listen; your hands are full of blood.
[Isa 1:16 ESV] Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil,
[Isa 1:17 ESV] learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow's cause.
God’s Son[Heb 1:2 ESV] but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom (Christ) also he created the world.
Jesus is God. Sustains the Universe by His Word. [Heb 1:3 ESV] He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power.
After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
Purification: a cleansing, purification, a ritual purgation or washing
Superior to angels; 2nd Person of the Trinity, [Heb 1:4 ESV] having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.
[Heb 1:5 ESV] For to which of the angels did God ever say, "You are my Son, today I have begotten you"? Or again, "I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son"?
Angels Worship & Serve Him[Heb 1:6 ESV] And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says, "Let all God's angels worship him."
[Heb 1:7 ESV] Of the angels he says, "He makes his angels winds, and his ministers a flame of fire."
But of the Son!God, Eternal King, Just, Creator of the Universe, Eternal, Supreme Victor!
Eternal King[Heb 1:8 ESV] But of the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.
Just King[Heb 1:9 ESV] You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions."
Creator of the Universe[Heb 1:10 ESV] And, "You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands;
Eternal[Heb 1:11 ESV] they will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment,
[Heb 1:12 ESV] like a robe you will roll them up, like a garment they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will have no end."
Supreme Victor[Heb 1:13 ESV] And to which of the angels has he ever said, "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet"?
Angels serve those who will Inherit Salvation.[Heb 1:14 ESV] Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?
We have got to keep our nose in our Bibles. [Heb 2:1 ESV] Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.
[Heb 2:2 ESV] For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution,
[Heb 2:3 ESV] how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard,
[Heb 2:4 ESV] while God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.
[Heb 2:5 ESV] For it was not to angels that God subjected the world to come, of which we are speaking.
[Heb 2:6 ESV] It has been testified somewhere, "What is man, that you are mindful of him, or the son of man, that you care for him?
[Heb 2:7 ESV] You made him for a little while lower than the angels; you have crowned him with glory and honor,
[Heb 2:8 ESV] putting everything in subjection under his feet." Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. At present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him.
[Heb 2:9 ESV] But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.
[Heb 2:10 ESV] For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering.
[Heb 2:11 ESV] For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers,
[Heb 2:12 ESV] saying, "I will tell of your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise."
[Heb 2:13 ESV] And again, "I will put my trust in him." And again, "Behold, I and the children God has given me."
[Heb 2:14 ESV] Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,
[Heb 2:15 ESV] and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.
[Heb 2:16 ESV] For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham.
[Heb 2:17 ESV] Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.
[Heb 2:18 ESV] For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
