Today Tatenda Chikukwa and Jim Hutchings spoke with Otto Driedger about how Circles of Support and Accountability can help make it possible for some sexual offenders to safely re-integrate into the community. This program has an amazing success rate in the neighborhood of 80%, which begs the question why the federal government recently decided not to continue a grant to this organization necessitating cuts in staff and other resources. Cost to run this program: from 10 to 12 thousand dollars a year per person. Cost to keep these offenders incarcerated per year: over 100,000 dollars per person.
