In Romans 10:5-15, Paul says that salvation is as simple as believing and confessing that Jesus Christ is Lord. While this is true, Pastor Phil Kniss pointed out that something is missing in this formula. That something is discipleship. Believing is not just an activity of the mind. It is a relationship activity as what we believe is embodied and lived out in Christian community. What we believe, what we say, and what we do are all a part of the package of being and becoming Christian. Every time we confess Jesus as Lord we are drawn deeper into being a Christian.
