Unlike Old Testament times, the only sacrifice God requires o f us is a sacrifice of praise. While this sounds good, it poses a problem of sorts for Pastor Phil Kniss. Do we come to a worship service expecting to have to offer something to God that is precious to us? Pastor Phil said that he believed God was interested in that posture of the human heart that goes with making a sacrifice of something valuable. God is interested in a posture of worship where sacrifice brings joy! Worship is not about an experience that is "good for us". In Romans 12:1-8, Paul sets forth this picture of worship as an act of sacrifice. And instead of sacrificing animals, WE are to be the living sacrifice. Jesus speaks of this as well. In Mark 8:34-37 we are invited to deny ourselves and follow Jesus.
