The rise of heroin abuse and dependency among the young, educated, and affluent
Dr. Dale Archer is a board certified psychiatrist, a distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and founder of the Institute for Neuropsychiatry in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He is the originator of what has become known as the continuum theory of mental illness, which challenges the more common, reductionist idea that mental illnesses come with on and off switches between normalcy and abnormal. His theory goes against the established view that all mental illness requires treatment. Dr. Archer is also a radio and TV show host addressing health issues. His site, DrDaleArcher.com provides free psychological advice online to dispel the myths and stigmas associated with mental illness.
Dr. Archer is the author of “Better than Normal: How What Makes you Different Can Make you Exceptional”, and his forthcoming book will be released later in the year – “The ADHD Advantage: What you Thought was a Diagnosis May be Your Greatest Strength”
