You’ve heard the Phrase “a necessary evil.” something that you do not like but which you know must exist or happen. For example, taxes are a necessary evil. It’s not something that we enjoy, at least, I’ve never met anyone who enjoys paying taxes. Anyone here enjoy paying taxes? We don’t enjoy them, but we know that we have to pay them. This morning I want to talk about the fact that Easter was necessary, but it wasn’t evil. It is wonderful. It’s a necessary wonder. The passage of scripture that I’m about to read takes place right after the women come to Jesus’ tomb on the Sunday after his death and find it is empty. They are reminded that Jesus told them He would rise from the dead. They go and tell Peter and the disciples and they do not believe them. verse 11 tells us they thought they were idle tales.
