Last week we looked at Luke 24 where Jesus appeared to 2 disciples on the road to Emmaus. On that road He talked to them concerning all things about Himself in the scriptures starting with Moses and the Prophets. In other words, Jesus went back to the what we call the Old Testament today, to the writings of Moses and the prophets, and showed the disciples all the things about Himself. Jesus pointed out to them that the book had been about Him all the time. He wasn’t a new character that had been written in. He was the main character from the very beginning. That’s why when John wrote his Gospel, he wrote: In the beginning was the Word and the Word was God and the Word was with God. That’s why when the disciples started preaching the message of Jesus’ resurrection and the message of His remission of sins, they would go to synagogues and preach out of the old scriptures that were persevered in the synagogues. The story of the all of scripture is all about Jesus. Starting today, we are going to make our way through those Old Testament scriptures looking for Christ. My hope is that you will not only Jesus that the Story of Christ is the story of all of scripture, but rather you will see that the story of everything is the story of Christ. Because each one of the events is not merely a long gone historical record. It has bearing on today. More importantly, as we see Christ in these passages, hopefully we’ll also see Him in our lives and we make a concrete connection between who we are, the situations we are in and the rescue we need;
and the people, situations, and rescue Christ brings to all of them.
